Where to Get Guitar Lessons
Learning the guitar—like learning any musical instrument—will take some time, perseverance and effort. However, once you get the hang of it, you can find yourself sailing along through your lessons. One of your obstacles in learning is your own impatience. Many students try to speed up the process so they can start performing like their favourite rock or country musicians. However, learning to play the guitar is not as simple as that. You have to dedicate hours each day to master the lesson before you can move on to the next.
Tuning Out
The first thing you need to learn before you can play effectively is the basic parts of the guitar. Learn to identify parts like the soundboard, frets, fretboard and neck. It's also better if you memorize the names of the strings (E, A, D, G,B, E) to make the lessons easier.
Tuning the guitar is also one of the most important things that a guitar student must learn. It's virtually impossible to study with an out-of-tune guitar. Even a person who has learned to play some songs eventually get stumped when the guitar loses its right tuning.
Strike the Right Chords
There are basically 7 chords that you need to learn to play (A to G). These chords however, can have a number of variations that will result in many different chords with different sounds. Some of the most common chords are: EM (E major), AM, DM, GM, CM, Em (E minor), Am and Dm. Each chord will require you to put a different arrangement of fingers on different strings located on different frets. Once you mastered the basic chords, it will be easy to shift your fingers during transitions from one chord to the next.
As much as possible, you should also make sure to use only the tips of your fingers. Even the slightest touch on another string can produce the wrong sound.
Learning through the Internet
There are a variety of ways to learn how to play the guitar, the best of which is to learn from a professional guitarist. However, you can also self-study at your own pace with the help of the Internet. There are many websites that offer lessons and guidelines for guitar-playing. No matter how you choose to study, the most important parts of the lesson are dedication and constant practice.
